Aaron Hodnett Post about Google car

Since being in MIS I have been thinking about technology more then ever it is amazing how things have changed through the years. From having a cord house telephone to a cordless telephone. Technology seems like it evolves every days, seems that something new comes out all the time. I have been paying a lot of attention to google and apple, it seems like this two corporations are moving the fastest in many different categories.

I saw this video Google made with a Google car for a blind man. The care used google maps to help the man get around in the car. Its just so amazing that man that can not see will have the ability to get around without having anyone help him. It makes people feel like they can depend on themselves. I cannot image what technology will be like in the next 10 to 20 years here is the video of the self driving google car.

  2. "Look Ma no hands"...this video was more than incredible, and it really shows us that technology is moving faster than anyone could ever imagine. I thought it was amazing when the car recognized where to find the drive thru at the fast food restaurant, the whole concept was brilliant. I can't wait to see what Google will do with this great invention.

  3. Wow! This makes me feel as if i need to go ahead and sack away some money to invest in Google. They are creating the unthinkable and the unbelievable right now. Google may become the new age apple. The car itself will change lives and innovate other car companies to finally display and start producing automobiles that navigate themselves. Now, how long that will take is a whole other question.

  4. This technology is simply amazing and can have a tremendous impact in reducing the number of accidents. This seems a little ahead of its time so it'll be interesting to see how long it will take lawmakers to pass the use of driverless vehicles.

  5. This is almost unbelievable... i watched this is disbelief.. To my surprise i did some research and this is a true story. I feel like if i showed my parents this, they would think the world was coming to and end. THis makes me thing, with no doubt in my mind, that there are also cars that can fly and many other technological advantages. I think in the next 15-20 years they will be releasing cars that will help many other people with disabilities. THis is the kind of technology I can appreciate. The kind that can help people and not just be luxury.

  6. To say the least, this is crazy! Just a few years ago concepts of cars that drive themselves were in science-fiction movies, and for the most part, unfathomable to most of us. I agree with others that we as a generation in our late teens and early twenties are more apt to adapting to something like this, but older generations may have a bit of an issue.

  7. Wow cant believe what "BlackManWorkn" just said in his comment... people now a days. Anyways I could already see postal services and truck drivers losing there jobs because of this car. I mean if UPS could find a way to use this to their advantage, it would cut there costs drastically as well as having the ability to consistently ship mail everywhere.

  8. As my colleague above brought to attention, this invention will lead to many cuts in truck driving services, cab services, or any transportation service that the Google car can infiltrate.
Its a huge liability on Google's behalf to drive on the same lanes as humans where any unexpected action can lead to an accident. I don't see how this will get perfected to incorporate all roadwork being done, unexpected detours, as well as the minuscule things we don't notice because is us whose driving- not a system.

  9. I am absolutely blown away. Google is trying to change the world one invention at a time. These concepts are not only life changing but very helpful for people of all walks of life. This evolution of inventions could blow up in the next 5 to 10 years.

  10. This invention will sweep the market. The fact that people who haven't drove in years due to disabilities or other circumstances have the opportunity to go out and complete tasks and other things that need to be done will be a big buy. The self-driving car will be great on the market in the future.

  11. This technology should only apply to passenger vehicles because it would be a high risk for 18-wheelers to use this technology when something can go wrong.

  12. Seeing a man who is 95% blind be able to have his car drive it's self is more than incredible. The technology is simply amazing and can only get better. With technology like this driving will no longer be a hassel for people, traffic will move better and road trips will be a lot easier. When this technology gets improved it will redefine driving. There will be fewer accidents because human error is eliminated and there will be less congestion on highways because cars will be able to move in sync with each other.

  13. This is one of the coolest inventions that I've seen in quite some time. In fact, ever since I've seen iRobot I have been waiting for a car to be produced that would essentially drive for you. This is going to be great, and I can foresee it lowering the age to drive. However, technology does seem to go crazy sometimes, so I hope before these technicians release this product to the marketplace that all glitches have been worked out. But I won't be the first to buy this new invention but I certainly won't be the last.

  14. Its amazing to see how this technology has been around for about 4 years. Oprah introduce glimpse of this technology during her 2007 , episode call How'd They Do That http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Howd-They-Do-That/7
